Don't know what's there or going to disturb, applying for Marine Licence testing, what will we remobilise in terms of contaminants. Costly for developers e.g. dredging contaminated sediment, placing on land etc.
Kath Wellard - discontinuity with what is damaging sediment in marine, and what is damaging on land - once bring something contaminated on land, not even considered special waste sometimes. Very little join-up between marine and terrestrial regs. of this. Few people know about both. Difficult to get knowledge of both
In light of associated risks, perhaps the suggestion should be around gaining a better understanding of marine brownfield sites and what the risks and opportunities are. What are they/where? Are there risks/benefits if left as they are? Are there opportunities for regeneration/removal (if so what are the unknowns/risks/potential benefits)? Are there opportunities for repurposing for other uses (e.g. as Kath suggested as a land-sparing measure to reduce further alteration of bluefield sites).
Health and Safety risks, not going near things, bigger problems, ridge to reef issues
"rigs to reefs" 😉
Opportunities to see benefits where places are degraded already

Kath - experts coming together and having more communication to allow fluidity
